Nesting Season Is Arriving, and We’re Loving our Bay Window Update

We all love a good Cinderella story and, when it comes to the home, a bay window seat is ready for some fairy godmother attention. The structure is there with some of the best views in the house, while it does not demand a major overhaul or expense like a sofa.

There is something nostalgic about curling up on a bay window and watching the outdoor events unfurl before you. Bay seats are comforting, often functional–especially if it includes built in storage–and part of the decor. As we approach nesting season, the timing could not be better to give your bay window seat some deserved attention.

How to Update a Bay Window Seat:

  1. Seat cushion: If your seat does not come with a custom cushion, they are simple to order. Simply take measurements and have your local seamstress or Etsy create one for you. Typically they use a foam insert.
  2. Styling: Hone in on the room’s decor theme and use it as an opportunity to support the design.
  3. Accessories: Bring in other accents in the room, like coffee table books, throws and lighting, which compelte the look.
  4. Pillows: Perhaps the most valued essential to the window seat’s style and comfort, the addition of pillows cannot be stressed enough. They act as a backrest that buffers seaters from the cool glass, while also contributes to the design.
Medical Swiss Cross Pillow DIY:

Buy paintable linen pillow covers from your preferred craft store or online. Choose the color of acrylic paint of your choice. Position stencil on top of the pillow and be sure that is stable. You may want to secure with fabric tape. Soak paint brush with the paint and paint in long, even strokes. Allow to dry.
