Why the Men’s Skincare Trend Will Last

Ladies make room in the medicine cabinet for the guys in your life, they have their own skincare needs. With an onslaught of beauty products specifically targeting men, you have to wonder if this is the next bubble tea. Pamela Viglielmo, President and CEO of MËNAJI Advanced Men’s Skincare, proves otherwise. She helms a company that originated 20 years ago when a makeup artist found that the products she used for men on camera were not performing, thus is the birth story of the very first concealer and anti-shine formula for men.

Science-based beauty products loaded with healthy botanicals will benefit skin health and improve appearance.

Over the next two decades, there has been less of a stigma for men to use non-detectable cosmetics. An attention to a man’s skincare needs makes them look good, feel confident, and gives skin a healthy boost. Needing to look camera-ready for that impromptu Zoom call has also been a 2020’s necessity.

The burning question that excites marketers and keeps cautious consumers up at night, should men use products specific to their skincare needs? “Men’s skin is different,” says Pamela. “Yes, in a pinch you can use your wife’s products but a man’s skin is thicker, has larger pores and hair, and you need product that addresses those attributes.” These true characteristics that define a man’s skin merits a formulation that won’t have too many emollients. “A women’s concealer can be too slick and won’t cover well,” says Pamela.

Men don’t have to become a beauty junkie to fulfill their needs. Just a few items will build confidence and addresses concerns from everything to covering up scars to effectively washing your skin with a botanical-rich mask.

Cost can be a concern for some but quality skincare follows the same concept as buying a Kia over the BMW, the downgrade model won’t provide the same experience. Products that are well made, science-based with extensive testing, and include more expensive ingredient decks are pricier. You can also leverage those products like a rolled up tube of toothpaste, it will last.

Three Steps on How to Use a Concealer:

  1. Find a shade closest to your skincare type, an exact match is not necessary.
  2. Better to go lighter than darker for a more natural look.
  3. Dab concealer with a sponge or your ring finger for plumpness, and blend.
