Promoting Mental Well-Being for Young People During Challenged Times

We are of the belief that pity parties are never much fun. While COVID-19 has been one of the most trying experiences in people’s lifetimes, without undermining the tragedy of unexplainable loss, the focus to remain positive and maintain a healthy mental outlook, notably with our youth, is something we can control.

In a recent podcast on happy healthy with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Dr. Amanda Craig of MMFT, she reviews useful guidance on how to keep young people in a positive disposition during these unprecedented times.

The Simple Act of Meditation: Stress Welcomed

Meditation may bring to mind people who do lotus positions in the wilderness and breathe out inhuman guttural sounds. I’ve considered myself too high energy to meditate, which is why Whitney Ross, Integrative Health Coach of Whit & Well, advised that it’s time to take meditation seriously. Whitney has gained insight on the practice through Yoga and Meditation expert Sarah Barrington, who guides people on how simple the process is.

Forget the Groundhog, Resort Wear Signals Spring’s Arrival

Resort travel may look attenuated this year but that doesn’t have to keep you from adding stylish pieces for warmer temps. How to Display Art Like a Gallery Owner

Wall art has a tendency to accumulate in a speed more associated with buying earrings. It seems disloyal to keep important works stowed away. Avoid the impulse to hang everything you own. Follow our guide on how to display art.

Displaying wall art is a thoughtful process but doesn’t have to be agonizing.

  1. Group top considerations against a wall so they are in easy view.
  2. Consider how the wall hangings will complement the furnishings and connect to the overall colors, pattern and scale of the room.
  3. Settle on a chosen location and test your favorite selections for a period of time and swop out.
  4. While formal grids or the grouping of three is a handy rule, a freer approach is as effective. If there is a blank space that would benefit from some color or design, find a piece that fits well. One large piece, grouping, or series can all achieve a beautiful arrangement.
  5. Interplay different works either by themes, color or size for an arresting and personalized visual.
  6. Consider hanging in a place with supportive lighting, either in a naturally lit area or install lights. Keep in mind that pricey works of art could be damaged from the sun.

One large canvas commands a naturally lit corner. Keep in mind to protect the painting on sunny days.
