Say No to Sneezes: Make an Allergy Calming Tea

Forget the hot nanny, allergies kill the passion in a relationship. Sneezes that should come with an advisory warning, a dependency on Kleenex, teary eyes, coughing up questionable particles resembling the slime my son makes—it all places a moratorium on anything fun. So how to remedy your clogged head and enjoy the fundamentals of living once again? Take a natural approach and make an allergy calming tea.

Create homemade tea for a natural way to treat allergies.

Why the recipe works:

Research any allergy remedy and the same therapeutic ingredients come up: Honey, spices like turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, fresh oregano and vitamin C rich foods such as citrus. I treat loose tea in a similar fashion as smoothies and soups by embellishing with my favorite flavors, thus you can add cloves, coconut, dried fruit, lavender or chocolate nibs–anything that is to your preference and can be diffused.

What you’ll need:

French press or tea diffuser

1/4 cup loose tea

2 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp ginger

2 tsp turmeric

1 sprig or fresh oregano

Rind from 1 clementine

Honey, preferably a local variety, and lemon to taste

Recipe:

Place all ingredients in the French press. Add 2 cups of boiling water and press. Let seep for 2 minutes. Makes 2 cups.

Use natural ingredients, even staples in the spice cabinet, for a soothing balm.
